Our company’s cerium-stabilized zirconia beads are suitable for wet grinding and ultrafine dispersion of high-viscosity materials, such as in sand mills or other mixers. We provide ultimate ultrafine grinding and dispersion solutions for the global fine chemical, new energy, electronic materials, and non-metallic mineral processing industries.

Cerium-stabilized zirconia beads are primarily based on our independently developed and optimized CeO₂ stabilizing formula. Through re-proportioning, we fully leverage the stability of its crystal structure. In numerous experiments and real-world user experiences, they demonstrate stability far exceeding that of similar grinding beads on the market, exhibiting extremely low breakage rates and minimal wear and tear on equipment.

This series of cerium-stabilized zirconia beads features a unique rare-earth stabilizer. Through multiple experiments and formula modifications by our R&D team, its compressive strength can reach 170 kgf (2 mm), and the wear per ton is far less than 0.015 kg. It is renowned for its low wear and excellent cost-effectiveness. Furthermore, its exceptional toughness makes it resistant to micro-cracks and chipping when facing high-impact, high-viscosity materials.

The features of our series of grinding beads are as follows:

  • High-density special formula: Due to the large atomic weight of cerium, the specific gravity of these beads is typically 6.0 ~ 6.2 g/cm³. Furthermore, data from experiments and customer feedback indicates that cerium-stabilized zirconia beads, due to their high inertia, deliver a stronger impact force on materials during grinding, making them particularly suitable for crushing highly viscous slurries, such as paints, inks, electronic pastes, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
  • Excellent fracture toughness: Cerium-stabilized zirconia beads possess a phase transformation toughening mechanism. When the bead surface is impacted and about to crack, the local stress at the crack tip induces a trace amount of tetragonal phase to transform into a monoclinic phase. The accompanying slight volume expansion compresses the crack and prevents its propagation. Cerium-stabilized beads are more impact-resistant and less brittle than ordinary zirconium silicate beads or glass beads, and they are also non-polluting, making them ideal for some precious metals and food products.
  • Unique Yellow Appearance: Like other beads on the market, cerium-stabilized zirconia beads are yellow or dark yellow. By incorporating CeO₂, users can easily distinguish cerium-stabilized zirconia beads from other grinding beads. Their uniform color helps users identify the characteristics of our process.

For product packaging, we primarily use composite woven bags or plastic drums. Standard packaging includes 25KG, 500KG, 1000KG/bag, and 20-24MT/20′ containers, etc. Custom packaging is also available based on customer needs.

Guidelines for Cerium-stabilized zirconia beads

Cerium-Stabilized Zirconia Beads

Cerium-stabilized zirconia beads are primarily used in high-speed sand mills, ball mills, and other wet or dry grinding equipment, especially for high-viscosity materials and materials requiring ultrafine dispersion, where their cost-effectiveness is outstanding among grinding beads.

They are suitable for grinding materials in many industries:

New Energy Battery Industry: In the nanoscale wet grinding of lithium iron phosphate, ternary cathode materials, and silicon-carbon anode materials, our microbeads can precisely grind powder particles to submicron or even nanometer levels. This directly optimizes the uniformity and coating density of the electrode slurry, significantly improving the energy density, cycle life, and charge/discharge rate performance of the battery, providing core material support for the “powerful heart” of new energy vehicles.

High-End Coatings and Inks: For high-end automotive paints, UV offset printing inks, and digital inkjet inks, our products can achieve ultra-high precision dispersion of pigments and fillers. The smooth surface and high density of the beads ensure the stability of grinding high-solid-phase systems, effectively improving the coating’s sharpness, leveling, and color strength.

Non-metallic minerals and electronic materials: In the dispersion and grinding of paper coating grade heavy calcium carbonate (GCC), electronic ceramic powders, and capacitor dielectric materials, cerium-stabilized zirconia beads not only have extremely low wear, but also resist corrosion from various chemical liquids due to their excellent chemical stability, helping customers achieve refined and high-purity material processing.

We not only provide high-quality cerium-stabilized zirconia beads, but also are committed to providing customers with full lifecycle technical grinding services. We advise customers to shift from simply “buying beads” to “buying grinding efficiency.” Leveraging our professional technical engineering team, we will assist you in achieving:

Increased Efficiency and Reduced Costs: From bead material selection and particle size distribution to filler optimization, we provide one-stop parameter advice to help you improve production efficiency and reduce overall operating costs.

Reduced Waste and Equipment Maintenance: Extremely low wear and a high-smooth surface directly reduce abnormal wear on the contact parts of the sand mill, extending the overall machine life and reducing your long-term asset depreciation.

Customized Development: For the grinding needs of special industries or newly developed materials, we can provide customized development services for products in multiple specifications from nanoscale to large sizes, ensuring a perfect match between the grinding media and the process.
